Getting Better Answers from Largo AI
Tips for getting structured, data-grounded answers from Largo AI: effective queries, tool traces, pre-market prep, intraday reads, and post-session review.
Largo AI has access to over 70 live data tools — quotes, multi-timeframe technicals, options flow, GEX positioning, dark pool prints, news channels, earnings, screeners, predictions consensus, sector flow, volatility regime, and more. The quality of the answer depends entirely on the quality of the question. Here is how to get the most out of it.
Be specific, not general
Largo's data tools are designed for precise, falsifiable queries. The more specific your question, the sharper the tools Largo selects and the more grounded the answer.
Effective: "What's the SPX GEX structure right now — where's the flip, and what regime are we in?" This triggers `get_gex` with ticker I:SPX. Largo returns the gamma flip, call wall and put wall, and the regime posture (long gamma = pinning, short gamma = trending). Every number traces to the live dealer map.
Ineffective: "What should I trade?" No tool can answer this. Largo has no position-sizing model, no risk tolerance profile, and no opinion on your portfolio. What it can do is tell you the state of the board — which is what you actually need to make that decision yourself.
Ask follow-ups and combine data
Largo sessions persist, so you can build an investigation across multiple turns. Start broad, then narrow:
- "What's the current market regime?" — pulls market context, VIX, breadth, tide bias
- "How does the flow align with that regime for NVDA?" — pulls per-ticker flow, merges with the regime context from turn 1
- "Is there a confluence zone near the gamma flip on NVDA?" — pulls GEX positioning, checks wall alignment
Each follow-up benefits from the context built in earlier turns. Largo remembers what it fetched and can reference prior data without re-fetching.
The most powerful questions combine multiple lenses: "How does the options flow align with the gamma regime?" forces Largo to fetch both and compose an answer that neither source alone could produce.
Understanding the tool trace
Every answer shows tool chips. Learning which tools Largo pulls — and when it does not pull one you expected — sharpens your usage:
- get_spx_structure fires for broad SPX desk questions. It returns the same live state the SPX Slayer dashboard shows. - get_gex fires for dealer positioning questions. If you ask about "gamma" or "walls" or "flip" and this tool does not appear in the chips, the answer is not grounded in fresh positioning data. - get_options_flow fires for per-ticker flow questions. For SPX it returns the desk's own flow slice; for everything else, the merged HELIX + live pull. - get_flow_tape fires for the broader ingested tape (the HELIX pipeline's Postgres data). Different from get_options_flow — this one skips the live UW pull and returns the already-ingested historical tape with aggregates. - get_nighthawk_edition fires when you ask about overnight or swing plays. It is the only tool that can pull a specific past date. - get_zerodte_plays fires for the 0DTE Command board state. - get_zerodte_rejections fires when you ask why a ticker did not make the 0DTE board — the rejection log with gate codes and thresholds.
If you want a specific tool to fire, name the data in your question: "Show me the GEX ladder" guarantees get_gex runs.
Pre-market prep with Largo
Before the open, Largo is at its best for preparation:
- "What did Night Hawk pick last night and what's confirmed this morning?" — pulls the full edition with morning-confirm badges. - "What's the macro calendar today?" — pulls the economic calendar tool for FOMC, CPI, NFP events that would trigger the 0DTE G-7 gate. - "Where are the key SPX gamma levels for today?" — pulls GEX, returns the flip, walls, and regime before you look at a chart. - "What's the implied volatility regime?" — pulls VIX indices and IV rank, tells you whether premium is rich or cheap.
Intraday reads
During the session, Largo helps with real-time interrogation:
- "Why did the 0DTE scanner skip TSLA at 10:15?" — pulls the rejection log, shows exactly which gate blocked and the threshold it missed. - "What's the thesis health on the open SPY play?" — pulls the 0DTE board, returns the pillar-by-pillar health breakdown. - "Is there a dark pool level near the SPX call wall?" — combines dark pool and GEX tools to check for confluence.
Post-session review
After the close, Largo can pull the settled data for review:
- "How did tonight's Night Hawk plays grade?" — pulls the edition with resolved outcomes. - "What was the 0DTE board's win rate this week?" — pulls the track record and grading data. - "Show me the flow tape for NVDA over the last 48 hours." — pulls the HELIX ingested tape with premium aggregates and top prints.
Largo vs. reading the dashboards
Both have a place. The SPX Slayer dashboard, Thermal, HELIX, and Vector are purpose-built for fast visual scanning — you see the whole state at a glance. Largo is better for cross-referencing, investigating anomalies, and getting a composed read when you need to combine data from multiple surfaces into one answer. Use the dashboards for monitoring; use Largo for interrogation.
